Product Support

Skinister Medical troubleshooting guide.

Use this guide to learn how to apply Skinister Medical Adhesive Spray, remove adhesive gently, and fix common product issues before requesting a return.

Start Troubleshooting

Before you return it, try this.

Most support issues come from application timing, skin preparation, removal technique, or a clogged nozzle. The sections below walk you through the most common fixes.

  • Let adhesive dry fully before attaching your device.
  • Apply to clean, dry skin for best adhesion.
  • Use silicone-based remover for adhesive cleanup.
  • Call us if the pump is defective or you need help.

Adhesive How To

For the strongest bond, apply Skinister Medical Adhesive Spray to clean, dry surfaces and let it dry fully before attaching your device.

Applying Skinister adhesive to clean dry skin
1 Prepare the skin

Start with a clean, dry surface.

Personal care products can leave moisturizers, oils, or residue on the skin that reduce adhesion.

  • Clean and dry the area before use.
  • Keep adhesive away from the stoma, eyes, mouth, and broken skin.
  • If needed, remove residue with adhesive remover or isopropyl alcohol before applying adhesive.
2 Apply adhesive

Use a thin, even coat.

Apply adhesive where your pouching system, barrier, wafer, dressing, or device needs extra hold.

For maximum hold, apply to both the skin and the skin-facing side of the device when appropriate.

  • Do not use a heavy wet layer.
  • Keep adhesive within the contact area.
  • Avoid overspraying into openings or sensitive areas.

3 Let it dry

Wait 2 to 3 minutes before attaching.

Do not attach your device while the adhesive is still wet. Let it dry until tacky so the solvent can evaporate and the bond can form correctly.

Adhesive not sticking? The most common reason is that the adhesive was still wet, the surface was dirty, or a barrier product blocked the bond.

Follow your healthcare provider’s guidance for ostomy or medical device use.

4 Remover How To

Use a silicone-based remover.

Skinister Medical Adhesive Remover is designed to dissolve silicone adhesive. Water, alcohol, and petroleum removers are usually not effective for this type of adhesive.

Removal technique: Saturate the adhesive with remover, then wipe with a lifting motion instead of scrubbing or smearing.

  • Start at the outer edge of the adhesive.
  • Spray or apply remover and give it time to work.
  • Peel gently while adding more remover underneath.
  • Wipe away leftover residue with a lifting motion.

FAQs

Try these quick fixes for common adhesive, remover, and spray pump issues.

Why is the adhesive not sticking well?
Make sure the adhesive is fully dry before attaching your device. Also check for oils, moisturizers, residue, or barrier products that may block adhesion.
Can barrier products reduce adhesion?
Yes. Barrier products are designed to separate easily from skin, so they can reduce adhesion. Use barriers when skin protection is needed, then discontinue when skin is healthy and maximum adhesion is needed.
Why is the adhesive difficult to remove?
Use Skinister Medical Adhesive Remover. Silicone adhesives dissolve best in silicone-based removers. Saturate the adhesive, then lift residue instead of scrubbing.
Why is the spray not coming out?
The nozzle may be clogged. Wipe the nozzle with Skinister Medical Adhesive Remover and gently clear buildup with a fingernail. If the pump is defective, contact us for help.
Why is my skin irritated?
The adhesive is hypoallergenic, but long wear times can trap perspiration and cause mild irritation. Pause use and let skin recover. For significant or persistent irritation, contact us.
