Apply a thin coat, allow about 60 seconds to become tacky, then press the barrier firmly for at least 60 seconds. Follow your appliance manufacturer's directions and the routine recommended by your ostomy nurse.

Prepare and spray the skin
Clean the peristomal area as directed and let it dry completely. Spray a light coat only where the wafer or barrier will contact intact skin. Do not spray the stoma, broken skin, or mucous membranes.

Coat the wafer if needed
If your appliance instructions allow it, add a thin coat to the skin-facing side of the wafer, flange, hydrocolloid barrier, or adhesive border. Keep spray out of the cut opening.

Wait, place, and press
Wait about 60 seconds, or until the adhesive feels tacky rather than wet. Position the pouching system and press firmly around the barrier for at least 60 seconds, paying attention to the inner and outer edges.

Remove gently at change time
Apply Skinister Medical Adhesive Remover around the outer edge. Peel slowly while working more remover beneath the wafer, then clean away remaining residue according to the remover label.
The key is tacky, not wet. A heavy layer takes longer to set and can make the appliance slide instead of bond. Follow the current product label.

Can I use Skinister with an ostomy wafer or barrier ring?
Yes. Skinister is designed to supplement the adhesive on compatible ostomy wafers, flanges, barriers, and barrier rings. It can be applied to intact peristomal skin and, when the appliance manufacturer permits, to the skin-facing side of the device.
Does this adhesive replace ostomy paste or a properly fitted wafer?
No. It provides supplemental hold but does not repair a poor fit or replace a product prescribed for filling creases and gaps. If leaks continue, ask an ostomy nurse to review your fit and skin condition.
How long should medical adhesive spray dry before I apply the pouch?
Allow about 60 seconds for a thin coat to become tacky. Do not attach the pouch while the adhesive is still wet. Dry time can vary with the amount applied, temperature, and humidity, so follow the current product label.
Is Skinister waterproof?
The silicone-based formula is designed to resist moisture from perspiration, showering, and normal activity after the bond has set. Results vary by appliance, skin preparation, fit, and wear conditions.
Is Skinister a replacement for Hollister Adapt 7730 Medical Adhesive?
It is an aerosol-free alternative for many of the external adhesion tasks for which people used discontinued Hollister 7730, including reinforcement of compatible ostomy barriers. Follow Skinister's current instructions because the application method may not be identical.
Can I apply it to a stoma, wound, or broken skin?
No. Apply only to intact external skin. Do not use on the stoma, open wounds, broken or irritated skin, eyes, mouth, or other mucous membranes. This product is not a wound-closure adhesive.
How do I remove the adhesive without damaging skin or a reusable prosthetic?
Use Skinister Medical Adhesive Remover, start at an outer edge, and peel slowly while adding remover underneath. Avoid pulling a strongly bonded device away from dry skin.
