Description

Silicone-based, aerosol-free medical adhesive spray

A More Secure Seal for Ostomy Wafers, Barriers, and Skin-Worn Devices

Skinister Medical Adhesive Spray adds flexible, moisture-resistant hold where an ostomy pouching system or external device needs extra support. The fine spray makes it easy to apply a thin, even layer to clean, dry, intact skin and compatible device surfaces—without bulky tape or an aerosol propellant.

It is designed primarily as an ostomy adhesive spray for wafers, flanges, hydrocolloid barriers, and barrier rings. It can also help secure breast forms, external condom catheters, and compatible prosthetics. For comfortable removal, pair it with Skinister Medical Adhesive Remover.

Extra Hold for Ostomy Wafers and Pouching Systems

Most one-piece and two-piece ostomy systems include their own adhesive barrier. Skinister is a supplemental adhesive for the times when that built-in seal needs more support—for example, around uneven contours, during activity, in warm weather, or when moisture contributes to edge lifting.

A light coat can help an ostomy wafer or barrier maintain close contact with intact peristomal skin. A steadier seal may reduce the small gaps where moisture or output can undermine the barrier. Individual wear time varies with skin condition, body shape, appliance fit, activity, and pouching routine.

  • Works with one-piece and two-piece pouching systems
  • Suitable for wafers, flanges, barriers, and barrier rings
  • Flexible hold for movement and changing body contours
  • Moisture-resistant support for showers and perspiration
  • Fine spray helps create a thin, even coat
  • Compatible with cut-to-fit systems when kept outside the stoma opening
Important: Skinister supplements a well-fitted pouching system; it does not correct fit problems or replace the barrier, ring, paste, or guidance recommended by your ostomy nurse. Repeated leakage, pain, or damaged peristomal skin should be reviewed with a qualified healthcare professional.
Discontinued product alternative

Looking for a Hollister Adapt 7730 Replacement?

Skinister Medical Adhesive Spray is an aerosol-free alternative for people who previously used discontinued Hollister Adapt 7730 Medical Adhesive to reinforce ostomy wafers and other external devices. Its pump sprayer delivers adhesive without aerosol propellant, giving you control over a light, targeted coat.

Application and dry time may differ from the product you used before. Follow the Skinister label and the instructions for your pouching system rather than relying on an old 7730 routine.

Step-by-step directions

How to Apply Medical Adhesive Spray to an Ostomy Wafer

Use a thin coat. A heavy, wet layer takes longer to set and can make the appliance slide instead of bond. Always follow your appliance manufacturer's directions and any routine recommended by your ostomy nurse.

  1. Applying a thin coat of Skinister medical adhesive to intact skin around the stoma

    Prepare and spray the skin

Clean the peristomal area as directed and let it dry completely. Spray a light coat only where the wafer or barrier will contact intact skin. Do not spray the stoma, broken skin, or mucous membranes.

  2. Spraying Skinister medical adhesive on the skin-facing side of an ostomy wafer

    Coat the wafer if needed

If your appliance instructions allow it, add a thin coat to the skin-facing side of the wafer, flange, hydrocolloid barrier, or adhesive border. Keep spray out of the cut opening.

  3. Pressing an ostomy wafer firmly into place after the adhesive becomes tacky

    Wait, place, and press

Wait about 60 seconds, or until the adhesive feels tacky rather than wet. Position the pouching system and press firmly around the barrier for at least 60 seconds, paying attention to the inner and outer edges.

  4. Using Skinister Medical Adhesive Remover while gently peeling away an ostomy wafer

    Remove gently at change time

Apply Skinister Medical Adhesive Remover around the outer edge. Peel slowly while working more remover beneath the wafer, then clean away remaining residue according to the remover label.

Other external applications

Medical Adhesive for Breast Forms, External Catheters, and Prosthetics

Breast Form Adhesive

Secure compatible mastectomy breast forms directly to clean, intact skin for more freedom in clothing choices and a closer-to-body fit. Confirm that the breast form manufacturer permits liquid adhesive.

External Condom Catheters

Use as supplemental support for compatible external catheter systems when directed by the device instructions or a healthcare professional. Never apply to irritated or damaged skin.

Prosthetics and SFX

Attach compatible silicone prosthetics and external costume pieces with a flexible, skin-safe hold. Test on a small area first and use adhesive remover to protect reusable pieces during removal.

Common questions

Medical Adhesive Spray FAQ

Can I use Skinister with an ostomy wafer or barrier ring?

Yes. Skinister is designed to supplement the adhesive on compatible ostomy wafers, flanges, barriers, and barrier rings. It can be applied to intact peristomal skin and, when the appliance manufacturer permits, to the skin-facing side of the device.

Does this adhesive replace ostomy paste or a properly fitted wafer?

No. It provides supplemental hold but does not repair a poor fit or replace a product prescribed for filling creases and gaps. If leaks continue, ask an ostomy nurse to review your fit and skin condition.

How long should medical adhesive spray dry before I apply the pouch?

Allow about 60 seconds for a thin coat to become tacky. Do not attach the pouch while the adhesive is still wet. Dry time can vary with the amount applied, temperature, and humidity, so follow the current product label.

Is Skinister waterproof?

The silicone-based formula is designed to resist moisture from perspiration, showering, and normal activity after the bond has set. Results vary by appliance, skin preparation, fit, and wear conditions.

Is Skinister a replacement for Hollister Adapt 7730 Medical Adhesive?

It is an aerosol-free alternative for many of the external adhesion tasks for which people used discontinued Hollister 7730, including reinforcement of compatible ostomy barriers. Follow Skinister's current instructions because the application method may not be identical.

Can I apply it to a stoma, wound, or broken skin?

No. Apply only to intact external skin. Do not use on the stoma, open wounds, broken or irritated skin, eyes, mouth, or other mucous membranes. This product is not a wound-closure adhesive.

How do I remove the adhesive without damaging skin or a reusable prosthetic?

Use Skinister Medical Adhesive Remover, start at an outer edge, and peel slowly while adding remover underneath. Avoid pulling a strongly bonded device away from dry skin.

Safe-use reminders

Use Only on Intact External Skin

  • Read the product label before use and follow the instructions supplied with your medical device or prosthetic.
  • Do not apply to a stoma, open wound, broken or irritated skin, eyes, mouth, or mucous membranes.
  • Do not use for wound closure or as a substitute for a prescribed dressing, pouching product, or medical treatment.
  • Stop use if irritation occurs. Seek guidance from a qualified healthcare professional for persistent leakage, pain, or skin damage.
  • For a new use or sensitive skin, test a small area first and confirm compatibility with the device manufacturer.
